A Keen Eye for Tweaking a Golf Swing

Andrew’s interest in golf began similar to most young boys - weekend golf outings with his father, Roger, who was an avid golfer. Soon Andrew knew he had natural talent for golf and his interest turned to passion that continues today.

By age 14 Andrew was consistently winning or finishing near the top of the leader board in nearly every junior event he entered. During this time his golf talents and successful tournament performance were being closely watched by the Victorian Institute of Sport. This is an exclusive sports program sponsored by the Australian government and dedicated to developing Australia’s elite junior athletes to compete at the international level in their respective disciplines.

At age 18 Andrew received and accepted an invitation to participate in Victorian Institute of Sport’s prestigious golf program led by internationally acclaimed instructors Steve Bann & Dale Lynch. The program used state of the art technology, "hands-on" instruction, practice, playing the mental game, and fitness as the core of its focus to develop champions.

The benefits of the Victorian Institute of Sport, natural talent, and desire enabled Andrew to play at the top of the amateur level where he won state and national titles while a member of the Victorian State Golf Team. He also played in the world’s most prestigious amateur events: the U.S and British Amateur Championships.

Based on past performance the next logical step was to turn professional and his journey as a full time golfer began. During the next 12 years he successfully competed in tournaments on the Asian, Australasian, and Nationwide Tours.

During the several years of competing and playing golf around the world, Andrew constantly helped people understand and improve their golf swing as well as play better. He had a knack for teaching and the satisfaction derived from people achieving their goals through his skills continually grew... along with the requests for his teaching time.

Andrew's outstanding reputation, keen eye for tweaking a golf swing, repositioning posture, overall golf knowledge, and achieving positive results did not go unnoticed. In early 2009 he was asked to join the team of instructors at the esteemed Grayhawk Learning Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, rated as one of the best golf schools in America. Grayhawk was Andrew’s home course while on tour where he proudly displayed their logo on his bag.

Cleveland Golf and Srixon also recognized Andrew’s many talents and have enhanced their staff with him as a member.

Andrew and his wife reside full time in Scottsdale, Arizona. When time permits he visits his family and friends in Australia. His favorite hobbies are hiking and fishing.

Finding a first-rate golf instructor who was truly the best fit for me was extremely difficult and required a lot of patience combined with some good luck. For the past 20 years I was a 5 handicap and had been tirelessly searching for that mystical instructor or swing thought that would turn me into a scratch player. My dream came to fruition after just a few sessions with Andrew Getson. Although he doesn't make any such claims Andrew is a true magician when it comes to the golf swing. While carefully articulating his philosophy and breaking the game down to its most primitive fundamentals Andrew found a way to uncover the magic in my game. Most importantly, he did so in a way that was easy to comprehend. I have worked with dozens of instructors over the past several years and am confident I will only be working with one from now on!  Thanks for everything Andrew.
